A Public Vote -- Words You Hate

The topic was brought up recently of words that one may hate. I understand you're not supposed to mention coworkers names so let's just say that the topic arose from a conversation between Sam and Syliva (not Bill B. and Alissa).

So what are those words that just make your skin crawl? Here's a few from me, and people never seem to give up on using them:

  • orientate
  • irregardless
  • hisself
  • those "T" words used to describe a woman's chest parts. I hate both the one- and two-syllable variations. Y'all got it?

So what are your hated words?

  • 4 Comments:

    • So, let's say you were reading (Reading what, I don't know) and came across the following:

"Irregardless of the consequences, he tried to orientate hisself to get a good look at her tits."

My top list includes use of the word "Carry" instead of "Take." "I'm going to carry my kids to the circus." "I carried my mom to the doctor."

      Also,
      Dear Memphis,
      Say it with me: ASK.
"I axed him could I get a ride to the Hickory Ridge Mall."

      And finally, misuse of "I."
"I scheduled a meeting for her and I to discuss the issues with her grammar."

    • Flavor Flav keeps saying "romantical"... it kinda started getting on my nerves after the 40th time I heard it.

Also, I cringe whenever I hear "Git 'er done!"

    • I hate it when people use the word "here's" in place of here are.

Same thing with "there's" and there are.

"Go ahead Bubba. There's two beers in the fridge."

    • I hate when someone uses "myself" instead of "me."

I also hate romatical but when Collette Reardon (Cheri Oteri) uses "sexical" in a SNL sketch, it makes me laugh hysterically.

I also hate it when people shorten words for no real reason, for example vay-kay, preggers, awesers...
